Studio Mieke Meijer designed a memento to be awarded to individuals who have served Eindhoven University of Technology with distinction.

For the design of this object, the TU/e motto of its founding year 1956 was leading: ‘Mens agitat molem’ (the mind sets matter in motion). The result is a series of objects that can be set in motion by unbalancing them. The traditional shape of the medal, the circle, forms the basis of the design. The specific geometry of each of the three objects determines the frequency and amplitude of the movement. The objects are made of bronze and patinated in Make Eindhoven's workshop. This gives each object a unique character. The text font of ‘Mens agitat molem’ has been created by architect Dom Hans van der Laan and is reminiscent of the alphabet that he designed and presented to TU/e in 1982 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Department of the Built Environment.
