Hermès commissioned Studio Mieke Meijer to design a 360 m2 scenography for the Objects Presentation Spring Summer 2023, a 3-day international press event held twice a year in Paris.

The Objects Presentation reveals the new Hermès collections in all product categories except for ready-to-wear. Presented are products such as leather goods, fashion accessories, silk and textiles, watches, jewelry, tableware, home accessories, and furniture.

The concept of the scenography was based on Hermès' Year Theme for 2023: ‘Astonishment’.

Studio Mieke Meijer designed a series of playful optical instruments offering visitors an unexpected perspective on the presented collection.

Telescopes made visitors observe distant objects. Magnifying glasses and microscopes allowed visitors to see things that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. Periscopes made it possible to look around the corner or see things that are above or below eye level. Kaleidoscopes created a mesmerizing experience.

The instruments were made of low-tech materials such as cardboard and canvas but contained high-quality optics.
